郭大維 Guo Da Wei

Guo Dawei, a native of Beijing, China, Qi Baishi and his disciples, is a Chinese-American painter. Guo Dawei holds a Master of Arts from East West University and a Doctor of Philosophy from the Department of Art of New York University. He has taught art in the United States for more than 20 years, specializing in the difference between Eastern and Western art. Guo Dawei inherits traditional Chinese brush and ink, absorbs the essence of Western art, advocates “modern Chinese painting”, and advocates that Chinese painting needs to add poetry and music-like abstract expression to realistic naturalism, which creates endless imagination and enters the international stage. Guo Dawei’s works have been exhibited in China, the United States, Singapore, and Hong Kong for many times. Most of his paintings use “freehand brushwork” to express a unique concept of modeling and realm, and the themes are mostly cats, mice, dogs, etc., and the writing is particularly lifelike, which is very interesting.
